Breeding Horses at the PINTAS Appaloosa Ranch in Toblach

A Successful Breeding
For us of the PINTAS breeding stable, the mares Overwhelmed, Pintas Maids Dream and Sheza Fancy Kelo, and the ApHC stallions Outstanding Dream and Pintas Hight Secret are our pride and joy. Already their parents were award-winning champions. Overwhelmed, Sheza Fancy Kelo and Scotch Dream are excellent for breeding as all of them are physically well-proportioned and bring along such desired traits as strength, surefootedness, equanimity and bravery.

Goals for Breeding Horses at PINTAS
Hans and Walter Baur clearly define their objectives for breeding Appaloosas:
“We want versatile horses, which are best for both recreation and riding tournaments.”
The two experienced Appaloosa adepts focus particularly on the equine conformation, especially of the head, on well-defined muscles and the gait pattern that is so typical of this breed.
Appaloosas Move with Power and Grace
The Appaloosa breeders pay attention to the strength and endurance of their horses with the spotted goat. A handsome character and a well-balanced temper should add to the versatility of this breed.
A defining trait of Appaloosas is the white sclera of the eye, the so-called human eye, a partly spotted coat and the striped hooves. No two Appaloosas look the same. But admittedly, despite a profound experience in horse breeding, the wished-for color and spotting patterns of the descendants’ coats are always subject to a large portion of luck.

Our Breeding Achievements
Every year, the breeders Hans and Walter Baur look forward the to new beautiful Appaloosa foals, which are born as prospective champions with a bright and successful future.
The breeding was established in 1994. During the last 15 years, they gave birth to 40 foals. In 2008 the young stallion Pintas Hight Secret Italian became Champion in the category „Weanling Colts.“ One year before, Pintas Outstanding Dream became Reserve Champion at the „Friera Cavalli 2007,” which was held in Verona. Since we embarked on breeding our own horses at the PINTAS Appaloosa Ranch, many of them have won national and international tournaments.

Therefore, we take great pride in the accomplishment of our Appaloosa breed here in Toblach!
